Emergency Preparedness 101:

When Help is Miles Away, YOU Might Need to Save the Day

We are very grateful for hospitals and first responders when emergencies happen. But sometimes, it can take a little longer to reach an emergency room and it is very wise to know what steps to take until you can get help. The knowledge of what specific steps to take can make a huge difference in the recovery time of that injury or outcome.

The Details

Crunchy Mama Farms in Alvord, Texas is bringing in some very special guests from San Antonio, TX to teach our community a Stop the Bleed course – Texas version (4 hours of learning and you receive a certification!) and a Prolonged First Aid course. I really like that the First Aid portion covers recognition of poisonous plants and snakes, as well as what to do if you get bitten by a snake or brush up against a toxic plant. It’s summertime and snakes are out! It also includes information such as what to do if you get a fish hook embedded in your skin and other helpful tips as you camp, fish, hike and enjoy the outdoors.

The classroom portion will be held on Saturday, July 15th from 9am to 4pm. I cannot stress how much valuable information this course will cover! But wait, there’s more! Our instructors are staying for a BONUS day on Sunday, July 16th, from 9am to 3pm, where we will run through some simulated scenarios with your blood pumping so you can put the information you learned to work and see how you might react in the moment. It’s one thing to read a book or listen to a lecture, but adrenaline can do some funny things (fight, flight or freeze). Don’t wait until an emergency happens to see how you might respond!

Our Instructors

So who are these instructors we are bringing in from San Antonio anyway? (You know I’m picky and only bring in the BEST!) Jeremy Burgett and Chandler Stockstill of T3R Medical Training Group are veterans who have a strong passion to save and protect lives as well as teach others how to do so. Jeremy has 22 plus years of experience in the US Army as a combat medic, combat medic instructor, 5 overseas tours (4 of them being combat tours), and 1 remote tour in Israel. Chandler has more than 4 years of experience as the lead medic in a Level I trauma center, giving him additional experience in treating intense civilian trauma. Together, they are going to lead an incredible weekend!

The Investment

And how much will this cost?? Uhhh, guys and gals, THIS IS A STEAL! We want to make this as affordable as possible while still bringing in the best! This knowledge is important for our community. The full 2 day course is $85 per person OR $75 per person if you sign up with a friend or family member at the same time. To keep the costs low, you can bring a dish to share and we’ll enjoy lunch together or you can pack your own sack lunch. Who doesn’t love a good potluck?! 🙂

Please note that seats are not guaranteed until payment has been received. Our classes usually have a waiting list, so don’t delay!

Can’t wait to learn with you!!
