Asado Cross Like a Boss

BBQ…

Just Bigger

Last year, the beef roast took 16 hours before it was at the proper temp. We removed the coals and let things cool for over an hour before we could finally get into the area to move it to the truck. Next, we transferred it to the butcher building for nearly 2 hours of shredding and final prep. That is a lot of time, and Shawn will be working on all aspects of this event. In the spirit of getting by with a little help from our friends, we will be working in shifts to make sure everything goes to plan. If you want to be on the pit crew, let Shawn know and report for duty at 11:00 AM on November 14.

On the subject of food, we are donating 1 mature beef to this event. We have a full kitchen, a Blackstone grill, and a smoker that are sure to be getting used quite heavily by as many of us as possible. Chefs doing cooking demonstrations have top priority. Don’t assume that you will have use of any of the farm’s equipment exactly when you want it. Come prepared, be responsible, and be generous. We find that when you do that and others do the same, the bounty is unreal.

Please also bring your camp chairs, a coffee mug, a water bottle and a 10×10 pop-up tent if you have it. More camp grills are always welcome. Extra ground fires…not so much.

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS – Livestock Guardian Dogs onsite.

I’ll trade you a…

Bartertown

One of the best bits of advise we ever heard was that you can get just about anything you want in this life if you help enough other people get what they want.

Tag of Life Done Free introduced us to the concept of Bartertown at Midwest Preparedness in Kansas and OUR WHOLE FAMILY LOVES IT! Bring some treasures to trade and let the fun begin! Clean out your closets and attics. Create something beautiful or handy. Find something quirky at a garage sale. Anything goes. Well, actually, not anything. We do have two hard and fast rules: 1.) No money can change hands and 2.) Nothing can be immoral or illegal. That’s it. Oh, the treasures you will find!

Shawn is a fabulous wheel’er and deal’er and here are his best Pro Tips:

1. Talk to people. Find out what they have and what they want.

2. If you want something of theirs, start working trades with others to get the thing that they want.

3. Be generous. Your generosity with one person might make someone else more willing to deal with you. Be particularly generous with kids. Learning how to barter is an important lesson in life.

Most of all, have fun!

We did our absolute best to keep prices low and affordable while still covering our costs. Any profits will go to improving the farm so it’s even better next year!

Pricing is $50 per adult 18 and up. Kids come FREE! Ticket includes:
